This guy does remixes of famous movie trailers by adding his own a capella background music, sound effects, and dialogue. This video is pretty much just an exact replica of the real trailer made into a joke. For this reason, it is derivative because he took someone else’s media and made it into his own.
However, he doesn’t claim any rights over this video, nor does he make any money off of it. He also puts the original movie title clearly in the title of his video. If anything, this parody could actually make the original movie even more popular.
So, it’s kind of hard to decide whether or not this video crosses the line. Some people might think it does. But i like to think it’s just someone doing something clever to make people laugh. I thought it was a cool idea.
No mention of transformative use. Can’t tell if you have a handle on that term and that you read about it in the media education document.
